DRESS-DOWN 4 CHARLEY July 22, 2016

BURPEES 4 CHARLEY July 25, 2016

A friend of a friend – Jeremy Belas, along with his brother Oli Belas, have really touched our hearts recently by volunteering themselves to do this physically exhausting challenge. They are going to attempt to do 1000 burpees in under two hours!

For those of you who like stats…..that’s eight burpees per minute and seven seconds per burpee… WOW! Being a PE teacher myself (Jess speaking here) I can completely understand just what a challenge this is to undertake!

They are asking all friends, family and anyone supporting Cure4Charley to make a pledge via Jeremy’s Facebook page and he will post a video, which we will share, once they are done. Then you can donate the money pledged directly to our page, but please put the reference burpees in the comments, so we can give Jez and his Bro the credit for the funds raised. Thanks again Jez and Oli, and good luck!

CAKE 4 CHARLEY July 28,2016

So anyone who knows Charley will know she loves cake, but so does everyone it appears and a very good friend of ours who happens to be a star baker, is prepared to take advantage of this at work on Thursday for Cure4Charley. If anyone else fancies putting their culinary skills to good use, Cure4Charley is happy to benefit from the proceeds and the calories!

HIKE 4 CHARLEY August 1-30,2016

From August 1-30, Jess’ cousin Emily Hunt will be doing 30 hikes in 30 days in the Chamonix valley. She will cover the valley from Vallorcine-Les Houches, spreading the message in the mountains!

She said: “My total metres ascent estimate (how many metres vertical) for all the hikes is about 26,500 metres. I reckon I’ll be hiking for on average 5-6 hours per day (in between going to work full time)!

“When I do it, I will download a tracker app that will track my journey and I’ll upload the pictures to my instagram every day. So, if anyone can think of any funny summit selfies that I could take, then please let me know!”

If you would like to sponsor Emily on her mammoth fundraising challenge, then you can do so by donating to the Cure4Charley fundraising page and putting Hike4Charley in the comments along with your message of support.

STEPS 4 CHARLEY August 2016

Next month, mum of one, Siobhan Longano will be stepping out in aid of Cure4Charley. She said: “I have decided to put my walking, chasing and sometimes running after my little one, Tommy, to doing 10,000 steps a day in August 2016 to help Charley get the immunotherapy treatment she needs to be there for her little girl.”
Siobhan is calling her event #steps4charley, so please sponsor her by making your donations via the go fund me page with a mention of the event in the comments.

HEADSHAVE 4 CHARLEY September 15, 2016

Ten members of Dorothy Stringer’s staff have offered to have their heads shaved for the Cure 4 Charley Charity during lunchtime on Thursday 15th September.

You can support them with this on their just giving page, where they aim to raise £2,000 for cure 4 charley before they start. Then they will be asking students to donate money into either the ‘shave’ or ‘not shave’ buckets. The bucket with the most money in at the end will determine if they keep their hair on.

The majority of staff are likely to have their heads shaved, however, the decision will be the students’ based on which bucket has the higher amount of donations.

You can see the before photograph above and we will post the after photo of all the newly shaved members of staff.
